I am getting a Application error on windows vista please help I tried installing dx8.1 but that did not help i installed dx9 but this game does not wanna go i reinstalled it twice but no go please help me.

The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000005)
occurred in the application at location 0x00426cbd

click OK to terminate the program

This error is the base game no mod installed please help me get my game going i really wanna play the mod.
