From the Readme
Running the game under stressful Windows conditions
At Electronic Arts we strive to bring you the best in graphics,
audio and gameplay. We are always pushing the envelope of computer
performance. While we have made every effort to ensure that NHL® 09
multi-tasks with all Windows applications, we recommend that you shut
down other applications (including virus scanners) and run NHL® 09 by
itself when possible.
Suggestions to free up space:
* Delete old Temporary Internet files and Temporary installation files.
* Empty Recycle Bin
* Run Disk Clean Up utility
* Defragment your hard drive.
did you change the Off-ice and On-Ice details all the way to the left

I was referring to the Vista link in my sig, which syas to turn off UAC and install the game and the addons in the normal folders
no, the db folder is in C:\Program Files\EA Sports\NHL 09 not in the My Documents

Weird. I'm having the same problem but in WIN 7 64 bit. Anyone know what's causing it and how to fix it?
The game goes from playing very fast to a few seconds of slow motion (matrix-like) then fast again. It isn't lag, actually it's all very smooth.
Any ideas?

Yes. I've tried all the obvious things. Any ideas what would cause this? I also tried V-Sync and other settings in Nvidia control panel.

not really but since laptop video cards are not supported for the NHL games that might be the reason

it runs amazingly in XP. it was only when i installed Win7 that it had issues. i just thought that it may be some variable in some ini file or setting. maybe i'll try reinstalling.

figure it out. i just had to change the "true" to "false" for Enable VSync in the sgsm*.cfg files to be sure that VSync was not enabled. Just changing it in the Nvidia Control panel wasn't good enough I guess.
All works perfectly now in Win7 64bit - YAY!
Thanks guys.
