Updating rosters on 64-bit machines and Win 7.
I found this post in the thread about the newest release of the BH roster. I couldn't figure out why my Win XP Pro 64-bit machine wasn't updating the roster. Here's the fix:
VAFS001:"In order to get this to work for Windows 7 or on a 64 bit machine, you have to edit the Vista 32 BHImport.bat and change the first line to the correct path to your NHL 09 game."
You can edit the BHIport bat using notepad. I changed mine to the correct patch to the main file:
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA SPORTS\NHL 09
If you are using Windows 7 or Vista 64 bit, it will probably be slightly different. But after changing the path, the update worked perfect. Many thanks to VAFS001 for discovering this fix!!!

Yes sir. I read ALL those links. But nowhere did it say anything about editing the commad line for a 64-bit operating system. Win XP Pro 64-bit does NOT install programs in C:\Program Files. It installs them in C:\Program Files (x86)\EA SPORTS\NHL 09. This is a completely seperate folder from the regular Program Files folder which also exists on the comp. Without (x86) in the command line, the files simply weren't installing correctly, even though the bat file SAID it was all correctly installed.

How To Get Addons To Work With Vista states the game and addons in 64 bit needs to be installed C:\Program Files (x86)\EA SPORTS\NHL09
You do not need to edit BHImport.bat file

#1 I don't have VISTA
#2 The VISTA 32 Import file STILL needs to be modified because it targets the the roster mods to be installed in C:\Progrm Files\EA SPORTS\NHL 09
That location will NOT install the rosters. The game is not installed in that location on XP Pro 64bit. I know because I repeatedly tried the install without changing the VISTA 32 Import.bat AND BHImport.bat files and it didn't install the roster updates. When I changed the target in VISTA32 Import.bat, it installed it perfectly. What really needs to be worked on is the BHImport.bat AND VISTA 32 Import.bat SAYING everything is installed correctly when it isn't. There also needs to be some kind of verification that the roster was actually updated. The only way to check it now is to go to a team's website and print out the current roster and then check it with what is in the game roster. That's a real pain and is not 100% reliable, since some teams are still making trades and bringing guys up from the minors. All I can say is I made the change as described by VAFS001 and it worked perfectly.

1. Vista and 7 are basically the same thing. Also, you were using 64 bit XP info. Vista and 7 are more close than 7 and XP is.
2. If you followed what I said regarding How To Get Addons To Work In Vista. You wouldn't have to edit BHImport. All you had to do was follow basic installation instructions and it will be like 32 bit XP.
That is good that you made the change and it works but using the steps I told you, you wouldn't have to edit BHImport.
The only way to make sure any addon is successfully installed is to load the game and look at what was changed. For rosters, look for a transaction that happened before the roster update happened and see if he is on the new team.
I have Vista 64 bit and what I did is what I told you to do.

Like I said, I tried everyting listed in the threads you linked to. NONE of it worked. The only time it worked was when I changed the line in the VISTA 32 Import.bat to aim it toward the location of the game. I dunno why it didn't work, but it didn't.
It's a shame that the roster changes don't introduce some kind of on-screen info saying "Roster ver 18" or something somewhere on the roster pages. I've seen other games where a mod showed some kind of indication that it is installed. I don't think it's that difficult to do. And the author of the mod could take credit for it. Just a thought.

so before you installed the game, you turned off UAC, restarted your PC and installed the game in C:\Program Files (x86)\EA SPORTS\NHL 09?

Nope. Win XP Pro 64-bit doesn't have UAC. That's something that VISTA and Windows 7 have.
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA SPORTS\NHL 09 is the default loacation that Win XP Pro 64-bit installs the game.

yes, but I was talking about 7 not XP here
7 like Vista, all that is needed is what I said and it will work. XP, the way you did is what is needed to be done.

Okay. But it would seem that some are having a problem with 7 and VISTA which resulted in the suggested fix from VAFS001. I don't have 7 or VISTA so I can't speak either way to those systems. Like I said in my first post, "If you are using Windows 7 or Vista 64 bit, it will probably be slightly different." Since I don't have those operating systems, I don't know their specifics. But it would seem the problem does/DID exist until the fix posted by VAFS001.

Ditto for what I did for Win XP Pro 64 bit. In the end, that's all that matters.
