hello people,

I know this is a strange question, but does anyone know what criteria the NHL games use to determine the winner of the Frank Selke? In my first season I acquired Joffrey Lupul and at some point he was ranked #1 for the Selke (in the award leaders section), and then he just disappeared completely from the rankings... he didn't even slowly slip down the list, he just disappeared. The same thing happened to my Ryan Kesler this season.

My guess is that if you score too many points, the game decides you're not a defensive player anymore. I would think the number of hits and the +/- rating goes into the equation as well.

So what do you guys think? Thanks!

if he made the allstar team, delete the allstar player duplicate using NHL View in the transaction screen

oh he didn't make the allstar team. Plus, the player himself didn't disappear, it's just that his name in the awards leaders went from #1 to not even being on the list. Hence why I considered that maybe in the game one of the criteria for the Selke is to not score too often and maybe he was removed from the candidates after he scored a certain amount of goals or points. *shrugs* not that it really matters though!

nope! Ryan Kesler this season in my franchise is 26 G, 16 A, +33, 183 hits. He's not in the rankings for the Selke anymore. My best player is now at #2, it's Scottie Upshall who is 17 G, 21 A, +33, 182 hits.

I didn't even realize how similar their stats are, how come one is a top pick for Selke and the other is not even considered anymore? the one who is not in race is the one who scored 9 SH goals this season, don't you have to be somewhat good at defensive to do that?

As comparison, last year my Lupul got 27 G, 34A, +38, 231 hits and stopped being considered for the award after a while.

I don't know why I even care about this particular award lol
