Crazy Scoring

Hi I'm new, but I like the looks of this place.. Got some sweet stuff.

Just a question. Does anyone else have the problem of the CPU simmed games getting outrageous scores? Like I play all my dynasty games and have realistic scores (with the occasional blowout

) But the rest of the NHL are scoring 8-9 goals a game EACH. I'm getting scores like 10-4 , 11-9, 15-8. And this is every game. Now I'm trying to get Nazzy to finally win a scoring race, but with all this scoring, guys like Forsberg, Sakic, Yzerman, Kariya etc are scoing 90 Goals a season! On top of that they've got like 100 Assists! And this is on Max difficulty. I'm still winning games of course, but this computer sim crap is out of hand. This isn't Wayne Gretzky Circa 1987 (I Think) Why are they scoring so damn much??

maybe it's because it's on hard, because they are smarter they are going to play smarter, if it's set to easy maybe they'll only play like Daigle in his hay day, lol,

Unfortunatly it's not. It runs from beginner right on thru to hard. So I don't know if its a software problem with my game alone or what.

I had the same problem when I was playing on easy, but it disappeared after I switched to difficult. Not sure why yours didn't. I did start a new dynasty for difficult though, not sure if you need to do that.

did u turn off icing, offside, 2 line pass'? if you do then thats your problem. I played itliek that on difficult and the scores were like that. now i have it all on and the scored are normal.

Nah man. I've got everything set to NHL standards. Icing. offsides, 2 lines. Everything. I still don't get it.

No I play my own games. But the computer sims everything else right? Those are the scores I'm worried about. the cpu teams are scoring 7-8 goals each every game and I'm getting ridiculous stats around the league. Myself I'm winning (and losing

) games with normal scores. 4-2 , 4-0, 2-2. Scores like that. But When the cpu sims the rest of the league, the scores are closer to 8-6, 10-5, 11-7, 9-7 and so on. It really sucks as far as the scoring race, goalie gaa, and records. There is never, ever a tie between 2 cpu teams.

Last season every team finished without a apart from me and the teams I tied.

My record was 47-22-4-9 and I tied edmonton twice, colorado 1 and phoenix 1.

But every other team was like 39-39-0-4. Records like that. Very unrealistic season simulation I can tell u. This year is the same thing. And I don't know what to do.

I haven't played for a long time..

and i'm trying to remember what it's called and how to change it.

I think it's where you set how much better the players and goalies play... i think it's in the commissioner area when you're in a season for settings????

someone that has played recently might know what I'm talking about here..

Anyway if you set it to low that might work... not sure, i haven't been able to test it since my x-box crashed a week after nhl 2004 camed out..

thats not the problem i'm having: the scores r pretty normal, but the scoring leaders r ridiculous, they finish the season with 130 goals or something. The individual game score seem normal, but its just the same players who score each and every goal, its really stupid.... and i wont even get into all the other stupidity this years game has.....

I also have a question: Can u NOT save replays?????

I had the same problem playing with 20 minute periods; the computer team guys were averaging 3-4 points per game. If you reduce the length of periods to 5-10 the computer scoring comes down significantly.

did u switch anything in the game controls,like speed burst,and all that stuff

that might be why as well,i have a dynasty started on Difficult,i didn't change anything and at the most of a score i see 6-5,but once in a while i blow out a team when i play,but other then that,the scores are reasonable along with player point totals.

I've got hooking effectiveness lowered and game speed up one notch.

If this is what it produces, I'll shit myself.

because i would hate it if what u explained happened to me,i do that too,try and get a player to win a trophy and then theres an NHL guy with double my point total in the same amount of games

Hi Folks,

got the same problem with NHL 04. Crazy scoring results in CPU-only games

Playing on difficult, 20 min period length (a MUST!!), no switching in game controls!!

Does anybody know how to fix this??

Is there an editor maybe where you can fix it???

Here's the answer, and don't read on if you don't like to be disappointed:

Its the periods. That's it. Nothing else.

Those sliders...don't make a difference in simmed games.

The ONLY thing that influences simmed game scores is the periods. Put it down to 5 minute periods and you'll notice the instant reduction of scores to realistic levels.

I know some want to play longer length periods, but, hey, don't shoot the messenger!
