Hello all!

Avid 2004 gamer here (still)....just curious if anyone plays or has tried NHL 2004 (or other older titles) on Vista? I might be looking to get a new PC later this summer and am hoping that I will still be able to play 2004 on Vista, as well as use all of the editing programs (NHL View, Big GUI, FshEd, FshX, etc).

Any insight, advice, or feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Did you have to set it in compatability mode to run it, or did it run on Vista as-is without any problems? Have you added any addons to it? Just curious if there are any problems with Big GUI, FshEd, etc.

NHL 2004 FRESH VERSION works fine on windows vista. You do not need to run it under older versions...BUT some addons crashed the game at the loading screen while starting a match. The loading bar just keep loading. I'm trying to released addons for NHL 2004 for vista users but it's very long and I'm very busy so it will take time. I've herd somewhere that you can use the addons by installing the NHL 2004 folder in *"My documents" directory but I'm not sure it will work.

BUT some addons crashed the game....usually jersey files that are 1024x1024 crash the game

loading screen while starting a match....there is a file that the game can not locate (ie, a jersey viv file or mask.pmsk file or even a wrong scoreboard file # it can varry on what is causing the game to keep loading)

I'm trying to released addons for NHL 2004 for vista users ....most newer addons for eg. goalie equipment and jersey's for nhl 08/07/06 will work with nhl 2004 you just need to convert them back into 04 using fshx and fshed


I've herd somewhere that you can use the addons by installing the NHL 2004 folder in *"My documents" directory but I'm not sure it will work.....nope not under My Documents area.....you need to re-install them where you installed your game ie c:\programs\easports\nhl2004\gamedata for either arena.viv for anything concerning ices, boards, scoreboards ....jersey.viv for jersey's ....masks.viv for goalie equipment and so on....

More easier just install the addons and run NHL 2004 under Window XP.
