Well usually it's the roster and aidata.viv that make the game more realisitic.
IMO 04 was the best simulation, but 07 with rosters and tweaks is great too.

Nhl 2004
NHL 2004 makes you work hard to win and I just love moving around those small playerpics when editing lines.

all games have their pros and cons... personally i don't think there is one that stands above all others as far as realistic gameplay. EA blows though... they always take out the good things and add in stupid useless stuff. NHL06 has some awesome stuff, but gets ruined by goaltending, and the whole goalie stats issue which is probably my biggest piss-off of that game... i've never played 07 or 03, so i can't say anything about those.

with NHL 2004 you get a very realistic gameplay, but its a little bit to hard to play it with fixed position, that was better in 2003.

2004 without a doubt. Though 05 and 06 weren't bad (with the right sliders), and I think 08 has a lot of potential, 2004 is still #1.

Well being of a different pile of pooh, I really like this 08 for the PC. I purchased 08 for the PS3 but found the players were the size of flees. What the hell is have all those great graphics if you cannot see them. So what I did was trade my nhl08 for my PS3 for 2K8 which I found a little better than NHL08 for the PS3 but not much, graphics were as usual with the 2K series but the game play was nice. Plus I could see the players better.
So all in all I love the PC version the best only because I can Mod the crap out of it. I can replace teams, create new ones, change the whole friggin NHL if I want.
I will say though that nhl2004 I think was the break through after a very sad nhl2003.
The trouble I find now is the controllers are getting more and more controls and I am getting more and more confused.
But that is just me...

What do you suggest as the best settings to play NHL 2004 for the most realistic gameplay? Im sure I have to change the sliders but Im not sure in what way. I tried difficult settings and the AI was all over me and got way too many shots off........what do you all suggest please for the best settings???
Cheers.
