Nhl 07 Is Too Easy For Me
I dont know if any else has this problem, but I can beat Team Canada with Team Japan on the "difficult" setting (and the score was 6-2). The AI seems too predictable and is easily beatable. Is there any way to make this game harder??...Hopefully a patch comes out with a "Extremely Difficult" setting.....now that would be about right!!

I updated to the bvh version 5 roster with the new aidata.viv and it helped a little but its still way too easy......the most difficult setting should be that you win only if you play a great game with expert playmaking and shooting and making very few mistakes........ EA should have made a range of 8 difficulties ranging from very easy to very difficult.

Why cant the computer team score on breakaways??.....the reasons the AI team cant score are 1. they dont take enough shots
2. they rarely score on breakaways
3. they are too predictable in thier playmaking
The AI defense could also be improved by making the defence more aggresive.....putting more pressure on the human player to make a good pass with limited time (like real hockey) instead of letting you set up in thier zone.

There's some aidata.viv that were postes by JB onDMD I think, dowloaded them but I didn't test them yet. The site is actually changing server or something but you should take a look at it cause it seems to change a lot of your "whislist",

I think what I want the most in NHL 08 is an AI revamp. The AI doesn't shoot enough, but when they do, there's 50:50 odds it'll be a goal(whereas my shooting % is usually pretty realistic, scoring 3 in 39 if I play MY way). They can't play D realistically at all. Let alone offense.
If I win a faceoff, pass the AI centre, split the D, and get stopped by the goalie, collect the rebound.......I then have no open to pass to behind the net, except maybe a dman who's come down to give me some rare help. My forwards are still sitting back at the red line wondering what to do.
That auto-hook&grab at faceoffs and during clutch moments(late in the periods) really gets on my nerves because their sticks reach into Wednesday and they ALWAYS recover the puck. Clutch and grab.
Sure, midgame I might be able to recover the puck from a slight check against the boards, but usually the AI somehow finds a way to just have the puck. I usually have to just stop playing strategic D and barrel into players to get the puck. And even then, sometimes they get up and get the puck before my player recovers from the check. So really, no matter how I check, I rarely recover the puck, and I don't believe it has anything to do with how I play.
I really don't know much about hockey strategy, but there HAS to be more than 3 types of offensive and defensive formations.
Also, my penalty kill specialists, if I sim a season, finish with incredible negatives. Sure, they don't score all that much, but a line of Moreau-Talbot-Grier shouldn't be hovering around -56 combined. That itself shows the inept AI at playing D.
Sure, once I got used to it I could play hockey the way to game forces me to, and it's still fun...just really easy and boring. I hammer the goalie with shots from the blue line and in front of the net, and I hit every enemy forward as hard as I can to knock the puck away, usually allowing under 5 shots a game, having 1-3 scored on me.

they changed the site to http://sportsgamer.com and I couldn't find the file. In the mean time I made a custom team with all players at lower than 75 rating and I can still beat any team.

Even if I agree with you 110% that 04 was the best. But after re-reading all those comments, I think my roster will please you all except that there's still hooking done by the computer. The computer will rush on you and won't give you much space. You can be outshoot. Presently I have the same aidata.viv but with more rush on your player from the CPU. At a certain point I think I want to reduce it beacue you don't have enoughe spaces to create plays that doesn't reprensent the new NHL, instead it's more like the old one.
Anyways, I think you can reach a very difficult level where you have to be on you best at all time to avoid any erorrs at all. It isn't perfect and have it flaws but has a fan of 04 like me, you have to try it at least a couple of games.

I will try your roster and settings Eugene Power. First will I finish my 04 dynasty. I have tried different settings earlier, but I think the game is made for many goals and the human user winning nearly every game. I found my self chearing when I finally lost two games in a row, and then it wasn´t fun playing 07 anymore.

Hey, the update is awesome for pick-up games, but once I start a franchise up I dominate the opponent every time...do you know if that is a problem in general? Again, "Play now" pickup games are awesome...
thanks

Well, the goal per game is lower than before and you can loose more on a regular base if you don't play really hard. Well for most of the case. I'm having trouble winning sometimes and I consider myself as an experimented player

Well first of all never use play now, go in exhibition if you want a good game. Maybe that when you are starting a dynasty, the ingame settings are back to default ? be sure that they are the same in exhibition

I agree this game is way too easy. I played a dynasty on difficult with the Leafs and didn't lose a single game. EA Sports really has to make their games harder, I'm just getting bored with this thing

Yup, in my dynasty they are changed, but even in exhibition the settings are what yours are. Very weird. I notice when I view the setting in NHL07 and click defaults it changes from your settings. Which file is used when "default" is pressed?

Can you list the settings for Defense and Dumping? For some reason mine have 4's for every setting in those 2 categories.
Thanks

Because if you want to have good settings for IP to IP you need to use program made by mediator who overwrite the default settings by your setting.
