Forecaster06 Update

Forecaster rosters are about 2/3 complete.

reason(s) for taking such a loooong time:
- my cpu didnt support sse and i didnt want to wait and depend on ea for a patch (which they did anyways- congrats ea!), so i bought a new one
- new job teaching in winnipeg, so i got a little bit more extra curricular, cant be a slack university student any more
- working on and off for a few online leagues with scouting reports, player attribute changes, that stuff
- i have acquired 2 new scouting reports. that brings my totals up to... 9 secondary sources, ex: online publications, emails, newsgroups subscriptions, etc, and 3 primary sources, ex: scouts, etc... with the new scouting reports, it has taken me a bit longer than i expected to translate the scouting reports into an algorithm for abstract attribute changes...

there was a time when i considered taking a hiatus with the rosters, but demand has kinda changed my mind.

its good to see some more competition from a bunch of rookie roster makers...welcome to the community !!! no jimboing from this roster maker...

thanks for those that have waited patiently. i will get this roster released as soon as possible. i have tested quite a bit so far, and i am happy with what has developed... hopefully u will also.

apparently the readme is a beta readme also...lol...

there is only one step. my apologies for the mistake. when i release the extra files, there will be two steps.

There are 2 major steps required for proper installation…

Step 1 – installation of Forecaster files

thanks for pointing this out. i will revise and edit the readme promptly.

Thanks! But I'm so ignorant to this stuff, what's Beta and does it differentiate from the other roster files you can download or are everybody's rosters in beta?

beta, to me, is it's about 95% complete. i have a few minor tweakings to do, some numbers to change, some rookies to put in the proper spots, some line combo's to double check.

i have a few ideas i want to try before releasing the 'finished' copy to the public. this is a chance for people to test it and say 'hmm...it stinks' or 'this is a great product'. i, as usual, take all the feedback from the beta rosters (as well as non-beta) and correct it then.

np's... the instructions should read:

1)make a backup of your preexisting files (ex: db.viv, exhibition.ext, etc..)
2)copy and paste forecaster files:
a)exhibition.exh and exhitibion.exha.tdb to c:..my docs/nhl06
b)db.viv, db.bh and tuning.viv to c:..easports/nhl06/db
3)change the settings to what they read in the readme.

that should be it. gl with the installation. any problems, pm me or msn me.

excellent... i was starting to question myself... hope you enjoy.

please, take a few minutes and give me some feedback... keep in mind that these are beta and ALL the features of a forecaster roster will be included in the finished copy. don't worry about being negative, i am a big boy and i can handle it.

if it crashes, dont install the tuning.viv, db.viv or db.bh files... just the two exhibition files that go into my docs/nhl06... for some reason, its been very unstable with those 3 files. not sure exactly which one is making it unstable, or if its a combo of the 3...

instructions:
1)install the 2 exhibition files in mydocs/nhl06
2)restore original db.viv, tuning.viv and db.bh file in c:program files...easports/nhl06/db

thats what good ol' beta rosters are for - to get the bugs out of the way. sorry for the inconvenience regardless ... but this will work.

if u didnt backup the original files, they are located on the cd... but, i am gonna release them on my site tomorrow morning regardless, just to help out.

no it wont compromise my rosters.. i remember someone telling me that the exh file will save the attributes, similar to what the db.viv did last year and the year before.

i have released the beta rosters again on my site. if you need to restore your original db.viv, tuning.viv and db.bh files... you can get them here:
