Simmods ready to make an impact

LOS ANGELES — After entering the NHL Entry draft as the 61st overall pick, Simmonds has made an impact of some sort.
He was only one of three rookies to make the roster for the 2008 season and scored nine goals.
"It was an interesting season" Said Simmonds "As a Rookie you don't really know what to expect"
"We expect big things of Wayne this season" Said Kings Coach Terry Murray. "He will be playing on the first line".
"It's a great opportunity for him" Said General Manager Dean Lombardi
Even Captain Anze Kopitar had high praises for the young right winger just a year younger than him. "He has special talent, he's a good guy, good work ethnic and overall a great team player".
Simmonds became a Fan Favourite the past season and may push to becoming a League Favourite.
"Going to try and make the Olympic team this year" Said Simmonds as he packed his training gear up "Of course it's team first but being acknowledged by your Country must mean that your playing good club hockey, something I intend to do"

LOS ANGELES — Outshot, out played but yet the Kings make most of their chances.
Even though Joe Thornton went off injured early in the game the Sharks didn't fade away.
But when the opportunity to put goals on the board came they relished only just once.
Again due to exceptional Goal Keeping by Jonathan Quick who again held the Sharks to a low tally.
"Right now our heads are where they are suppose to be" Said Kings Coach, who watched his team convert 1 of 2 opportunities on the powerplay.
It was true that the Sharks controlled most of the game but the Kings executed their finishes and scored the goals.
"It's frustrating to see that" Said Danny Heatley, who's San Jose Sharks fall to 1-0-2.
For the Los Angeles Kings thier final home game before a five game road trip will come against the Minnesota Wild.
"We would like to finish our first home trip of the season with a sweep" Said Anze Kopitar, who has yet to score a point.
"At the moment were doing good obviously" Said Dustin Brown, the Kings team captain.
"A big part of that success is of Jonathan Quicks goaltending skills" Carried on the captain.

Ersberg suspended for drug use

LOS ANGELES — The Commissioner told reporters today that the NHL has suspended Los Angeles Kings Goaltender indefinitley for possession of cocaine.
"It's dissapointing" Said the Kings Owner, who scratched his head before telling reports that the Organization will watch the case pan out before making decisions on Ersberg's future with the Kings.
"At this time I cannot tell you if he has a future with the Kings" Said Philip Anschutz.
Kings General Manager Dean Lombardi hinted that he may be placed on the trade market.
In other news Kings Coach announced at the Morning Skate that 21 year old Jonathan Bernier will be in the net tonight with Jonathan Quick resting.

Overtime
LOS ANGELES — With just 3 minutes into the third period the Kings did some gambling.
They took a time out so early.
The gamble paid off as the Kings scored vertually in the next minute and later tied the game.
"It was a difficult game" Admitted Kopitar who has struggled to the start the season, yet to still score a point.
"We needed those goals badly" Said Brown who scored on the powerplay.
Another reason to why the Kings won. They went 2 of 2 on the powerplay whilst the Minnesota Wild struggled on 5 attempts.
"We got the goals" said Havlat "But we didn't take enough of our chances, we were up 3-1, we slacked off, thinking we had won the game, then goal after goal they came back"
The Kings did what they wanted to do at the start of the season: Win all three home games. "We did it" Said Kings General Manager Dave Lombardi. "Even without our main goaltender in goal against a high powered attacking team"
For Jonathan Bernier it was a hell first 2 periods conceding three goals but later won the game for the Kings with not allowing a shootout goal for the Wild.
"I was nervous" Said Bernier. "I think I did good later on in the game but it wasn't a very good performence early on"
It won't matter for Bernier as he improved his record on the season to 1-0-0.
Well the Kings? They improve to 3-0-0.

Rangers too strong, brush aside Kings
Game 6
LOS ANGELES KINGS

1st Star Artem Anisimov, 2nd Star Henrik Lundqvist, 3rd Star Marian Gaborik
LOS ANGELES — The New York Road trip came to an end. A miserable one it was as well. Failed Powerplay attempts and bad penalty killing killed the Kings in the end. After the Kings started 3 straight at home with wins they embarkaed on a sluggish road trip losing the first three of the five games.
The Kings looked good early on but the magic went to the Rangers who are just the second team to score two power play goals against a tough defense of the Los Angeles Kings. But that didn't stop the Rangers hope as they kept shooting the puck at Jonathan Quick.
"Wasn't such a great performence by us" Said Anze Kopitar who watched his team fall to the Rangers. "It's distressing to us" Said Dustin Brown "We start of so good then we put performences up like this. Damn it it's frustrating".
Whilst Jonathan Quick has had a fine start to the season his show was stolen by Henrik Lundqvist who pulled of save after save and was one of the main reasons why the Kings could not get the puck in the back of the net Multiple Times.
"He's a good player no doubt" Said Kings Captain Dustin Brown, "He stopped vertually everything we threw at him" Said the Kings points leader. The Kings also failed on the faceoffs, something that has been a weakpost this season. The Rangers had six straight faceoffs go their way at the start of the game and had more than 80% of them the entire game.
"It is dissapointing that it came to this" Said the Kings Coach Terry Murray. "We didn't antipate splitting our first six games at a percentage of .500, we will need to rebound in the remaining games of the road trip and try and not go 0-5 on the road".
The Los Angeles Kings will face the 2008 Stanley Cup Champions the Detroit Red Wings in the next road game.

1st Star Raitis Ivanans, 2nd Star Jason Williams, 3rd Star Wayne Simmonds
LOS ANGELES — Coming into the game the Kings faced their first real test of the season against a Winning traditional side battle hardened by Stanley Cups. The Kings also needed to pick up their first road win of the season. They did just that as they soared to a 3-0 lead early on.
The Kings out talented roster wise by the Redwings found ways to score early on. The Kings struck hard forcing 17 shots in just the first period and controlled the puck for vertually the whole period. "It was suprising when we went up 2-0" Said Game MVP Raitis Ivanans "But when I scored and we went 3-0 up it was unbelieveable against a Red Wing side like this, we were controlling the game against a championship calibre team".
Then the Red Wings came back to give the Kings a scare before Wayne Simmonds finished off the game with a empty net goal, the first goal of the season for him. "We were impressed with the first period" Said Kings GM Dave Lombardi "If we play like that, we can beat anyone on the day."
The Kings got better on the faceoffs and did well on the powerplay enough to see them through Detroit, where they will play their final road trip of the opening season against the Blue Jackets

LOS ANGELES — Blinked during this classic puckoff and you might of missed instense adrenaline rushed action. 2 goals inside the first five minutes and late goal made this game an instant classic for the ages. Even if the Los Angeles Kings did lose they picked up points but dropped to 4 wins and 4 losses.
Both teams combined for sixty shots and the lead changed hands several times. "Was a great game" Said Dean Lombardi "It's a shame we went home as losers but there is nothing we can do about that now, we played hard but they got lucky in the first few seconds of the Overtime"
The Longest lead was just 10 minutes and that was the third period. "We got that goal late in the game, got too confident too arrogant and too ignorant they we were caught offguard" Said Kopitar who has started to score more points frequently in past weeks.
The Kings subbed out Jonathan Quick after he let in three goals in just 10 shots. "Wasn't good" Said Quick who packed his bags and left the building looking somewhat rejected at the loss. "Damn we needed that win and we even had the lead a few times" Said Kings Coach Murry.
The Kings have dropped four of their last five games after starting the season off with three straight wins. "It's games like this that wow you" Said Anze Kopitar "We played well enough but mistakes earlier in the game came back to bite us up the ass"
"We may venture into a trade possibility but were going to explore our options" Said the Kings Coach. The Kings will face the Dallas Stars on their last road trip of the opening season. The Kings haven't looked too good on the road so far.

LOS ANGELES — Dismantled and dissapointed and dejected. None of those things that had clung to the Kings on the road trip could stop them from Beating the Dallas Stars in a interesting clash.
It was one of those games that you though the home side had the game won already before it started. While the Kings got off to a fast start they put the stick to the put in the third period and ran way with the game with strong performences from the first line particulary Wayne Simmonds and Anze Kopitar.
Even Brayden Schenn in his debut in the dying final seconds managed to clinch a point. "It was interesting" Said The 2009 fifth overall selection who assited Randy Jones late in the game to add inflicted wounds in a bad Dallas performence.
"We went out there and showed them, WHO DEY!" said Dean Lombardi, General Manager of the Los Angeles Kings. "We expected big things from Wayne tonight, and he showed why we want a contract extention with him".
The Stars themselves looked lost and confused and gaveaway the puck too many times as the Kings rolled on and vanquished all hope of a win with three goals in the third period. Two of them came from just ten minutes in to put the Kings up 4-1.
"We slacked off a bit" Said Kopitar. "We knew we had one but the fourth line wanted to show they can score points as well, especially Brayden". Brayden told reports the game was "Exhilirating" but they won't always come this easy.
After a long six game road trip to finish off the opening series of the start of the new season they will now host the Dallas Stars in a rematch. It never hurts to go 2-0 up your rivals who are contenders for a playoff spot. It should be an interesting game.
