I've started a dynasty with the Dallas Stars in NHL 08 for PC. I created myself and my brother on this team. I play on the 2nd defence pairing and my brother is the back-up goalie to Marty Turco.

So far I've played 3 games this year. I've won them all but we could easily be 2-1 or 1-2 or even 0-3.

The first game was against the Colorado Avalance. Steve Ott opened the scoring mid-way through the first period. Colorado came back to tie it late in the first. In the second Matt Horton(me) scored on a shorthanded rush blowing a slapshot by Budaj on the blocker side. Then early in the thrid period Mike Modano scored to make it 3-1 Dallas. That would be the way the game ended and Turco stopped 19 of 20 shots for the win.

our 2nd game of the year was against the Boston Bruins. Boston came at us had in the first period as we on had 6 shots in the opening period of play. Boston took a 1-0 lead into the dressing room. As the second period started it was more of the same. But Turco's play kept us in the game. Then a shift by the 4th line changed the momentum of the game. Keeping Boston in the own zone for about a minute and a half. Then as Boston finally got the puck out they turned it over and Erikson came down the ice and beat Tim Thomas over the blocker tieing the game. 3 more goals in the period by Avery, Riberio, and Zubov gave Dallas a 4-1 lead after 2 periods. Then as the thrid period started Boston came out flying as Phil Kessel put a wrist shot over Turco's glove putting the Bruins back in the game. Then 2 minutes later Chuck Kobasew scored on a rebound to make it 4-3 Dallas. Then under a minute to go with the goalie out Milan Ludic scored to tie the game a 4.
Sending the game to overtime. But early in overtime Mike Modano put the game away blowing a slapshot by a screened Tim Thomas to end the game and give the Dallas Stars a 5-4 win in overtime.

Our 3d game of the year took us into Nashville. With the back to back games Mike Horton(my brother) would make his NHL debut between the pipes. It didnt start well as Jason Arnott won the opening faceoff taking the puck between are 2 defence and scoring on the 1st shot of the game. Dallas came back mid-way through the 1st tieing the game at 1. But late in the 1st Nashville regained the lead on a cross crease pass. Allowing 2 goals on 8 shots in the first Horton was almost pulled from the net. But he was solid the rest of the way only allowing 1 goal on 20 shots. With the strong goaltending Dallas was able to come back in the second scoring twice to take a 3-2 lead into the 3rd. Early in the 3rd Steve Sullivan tied the game on a weak backhand that the goalie wishes he had back. But Mike Riberio scored late in the thrid a Modano added an empty netter as Dallas would win the game 5-3.

Dallas wins 4th in a row

The LA Kings were no match for the Dallas Stars tonight as the Stars go 4-0 to start the year with a 5-1 win over the Kings.

The Stars came out flat in this game tonight turning the puck over numerous times in the first period. Kyle Calder opened the score on a wrist shot over the blocker of Marty Turco. A huge turning point in the first period as Turco stopped Kopitar on a breakaway. Thinking the Stars would go into the break down by one Brad Richards took a shot from just inside the blue in the dieing seconds beating Labarbara high blocker with 2.2 seconds left in the first. Then early in the second Jere Lehtinen scored on a shot from just inside the blue line. The puck hit Labarbara's shoulder off the crossbar then back off his pad and in the net.

Then on a Dallas Stars powerplay with 2 guys crosschecking captain Brendan Morrow leaving Loiu Erikson wide open beating the goalie with a back hander over the glove. Giving the Stars a 3-1 lead heading to the 3rd period. A pretty balanced 3rd period until a Dallas powerplay late in the game. Matt Horton's point shot was stopped by the goalie but leaving a rebound right on the stick of Riberio. He made no mistakes sending the water bottle flying of the net. Then 35 seconds later Steve Ott's shot hit the post. But Kings defencemen put the puck in his own net.

The Stars held the Kings to only 9 shots in this game. Dallas fired 24 shots at Labarbara. The Stars next action will be at home against the Calgary Flames.




PS. I plan the play another 3 or 4 games before the end night.

Dallas suffers first loss of the season

Calgarys strong first period is reason why the Dallas Stars lost there first game of the year.

"They came at us hard right out of the gate" Dallas forward Mike Modano. Dallas opened the scoring early in the 1st but 3 goals later by the Flames they took a 3-1 lead after the first. Calgary continued its strong play in the 2nd scoring early in the 2nd to make it 4-1. Dallas answered back late in the 2nd to make it a game going to the 3rd. Dallas came out out strong in the 3rd but a Todd Bertuzzi goal all but ended Dallas chances of a comeback. Liou Erikson scored late in the 3rd making the final score 5-3 Flames.

The Stars next action will be on the road against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Dallas wins a big game on the raod

The Dallas Stars came out firing in tonights game winning the game 5-1.

Before the game Dallas learned thats there captain Brendan Morrow would miss the next 9 days with a ankle injury. He blocked a shot in the 2nd period of the last game and didnt return.

Early penalty trouble was a problem for the Blackhawks. Sergi Zubov scored on a powerplay beating Huet glove side. Then on a 5 on 3 Jere Lehtenin tiped home a point shot from Sergi Zubov. Giving the Dallas Stars a 2-0 lead after the 1st period. Then just as a Chicago penalty was ending Dallas forward Krystofar Barch tried to set up a pinching Horton for a one timer. His pass was picked of by Ben Eager and he wented down on a 2 on 1 and scored on Marty Turco, getting the Blackhawks back in the game. But 2 goals from Toby Peterson in one shift late in the second period gave Dallas a 4-1 lead heading to the 3rd. Then a fluke goal from Brad Richards all but ended the game. His shot that was heading wide of the goal hit Brent Sopel in the leg and in the net. That goal ended Huet night.

Dallas got a scare late in the 3rd as there leading goal scorer Mike Riberio standing in front of the Chicago net was hit by a Matt Horton rocket from the blueline. He was able to skate off the ice but didnt return. But Dallas learned after the game he will be in the line up for there next game against the 1-4 Columbus Blue Jackets. With captain Morrow out of the line Riberio's injury would have been a major hit of the team's scoring.

Expect Marty Turco to get the night off and Mike Horton in net for the Stars next game against the struggling Blue Jackets.
