Frenchie's Fantasy Team

As I mentioned in DRutka's Vintage-EDGE Thread, here's my first creation with an 07 template. (I had done a few before in 2002).

One of the main reason for me to come here and see what resources are available and learn from the PROS is to see if I couldn't mod my NHL07 to get my fantasy league's teams http://www.gcfhl.com/gcfhl2/ in the game to get some game screen shots. That idea had first came up during the NHL lock-out, when we thought we may try to SIM a season, but the Commish being a busy family man (just as I) we never made it happened.
Another reason for not making it happened is that our Commish has made the decision that on a go forward basis, he would only allow ORIGINAL logos (as opposed to the many "ripped off" logos most teams have)
So this winter, I'll give it another shot, creating a few new logos, and see if once I get them in the game, maybe the owners will see an incentive to update their looks.

So I started with MY own team, and as mentioned before, based the jersey on the 1967 Penguins.

CREDITS: Template - the one and only "McD"
-Logo: original by ME.
As you see, I still haven't figured out the whole numbers thing,(I'm considering current Pens' block numbers with outline) but I'm confident that once I find time to read all the tutorials, and test them in the game, I should have a nice looking team.

I like to colors and unique stripping patterns (on the lower sides of the jersey, and on the pants) but I'd try to do something more original with the arms. Ever since the All-star reebok edge temp came out, people seem to have trouble breaking out of its mold.

****, i mean how many fantasy jerseys for nhl teams before their actually unvaling did we see that used the exact same temp design.

The logo could use some redesign, but thats just a personal issue

Thanks for the feedback.

I have to admit that most of what you've mentioned was intentional.
First, as to the use of the All-Star template, since it was my first EDGE project, I wanted to pick a template that would be easily recognize as EDGE by all, kind of a "cliché".
I also like that template, especially on with the white crescent inside the sleeves' striping on the Blue shirts.

I will definitely have an "original" sleeves pattern for my next project (almost completed) the "Hellcats"

Could you elaborate on yur opinion on the logo?
The logo is something I have used for years, and was, again, meant to be a little cliché. It is meant to be an "hommage" to the Maple Leafs, almost a parody in lack of "design". And let's face it, the name Frenchies has really no real meaning, you can't picture a French-Canadian expatriate...

Thanks again for your feedback.

@frenchie: I like the jerseys very much - perhaps a little more cresting on the logo [but could also be my bad eyes:-)] - hope to see more of your stuff. Excellent work.

Frenchies' Additional Fantasy Work

Alright, here's my second fantasy uniform for one of the team in my fantasy league (GCFHL3) the Halifax Hellcats.
It obviously started with "everyone's favourite" 2007-All-Star template, which, after hearing feedback on MY Frenchies' uniform, decided to customize slightly with a flame-like pattern to match the logo.
Logo is 100% original. It started with a hand-drawn sketch for this guy's other team : the Edmonton Attack. (The H shape was originally an "A").

One day I'll get a little more courageous, and actually go through all the steps necessary to get these in the game with proper numbers.

C+C welcome.

I like the design for Halifax, not sure I like the logo but it is different... love the arms design though.... looks like your logo is missing the stroke about it though!

Your piping looks very "pixely".
Try using "brush" instead of "pencil" when drawing lines.

BUSTED!!!

I believe the reason for that pixelization is the fact that I am not comfortable "drawing/painting" in Photoshop, that I couldn't get the McTemplate to work in PaintShop Pro, so what I do is I do my drawing/painting work in PSP, and then copy the layers in PSD...

As for adding a stroke to the logo, I did play with it, but because of the whiskers that would blend in, I took it out.

If I were a PERFECTIONIST (which I am obviously not) I would re-do the logo using the same vector shapes I used on the arms around the eyes of the "beast".

Because I have so many other concepts I want to work on, and the "owner" of the team was happy with it (heck!, he even ready to go with one of the WIP versions...), I may only revisit this logo in a few months.
