In addiction to what You wrote about the number of post. It's easy to say somenting when Yor're here for five years and have nearly 400 post - i'm here for a month.... You should give new pelople a chance instead of critisizing them just beacause the don't have a certain amonut of posts....

P.S - TF, do You have any idea why the game crashes when i'm using 2X textures ? On 1x it's ok but when i install 2x the game crashes when the match is loading. I'm using Win XP Professional with ale the updates.
It just seems that everytime someone releases a large pack, right away, someone with very little posts always posts something that is wrong with it AFTER THE RELEASE.

I have been paying attention to this for awhile, unfortunately for you, you are the one I decided to call out on it, maybe unfairly, but non the less.

im going to release an update tonight, correct the switched ices for St.Louis and San Jose, and try to find the ads TomiPL84 talked about. does any1 know why the game crashes for some people? i suspect *maybe* that its because im installing snow.fsh and IceCommon.fsh, because kubox does not. The reason i install those during the install of this addon is because Antti and jesse94 last year installed them.

It does not have to do with the snow and icecommon.fsh files. I tried renaming your ice files to match kubox and then ran his bat file. The game still crashes.

For some reason, the game will not recognize such large ice files. It must have to do with the same reason fshx crashes when trying to view one of your 2x ices.

I wonder if XP can not run 2x ices for some reason. Anyone able to get the 2x ices to work in XP?????

I'll shed some light on a few things, since the old wise man amasses knowledge from years of experimentation.

When your game craps out at certain times, it can mean a few things.

1) If the game crashes before the menu screen - its a bad db file.
2) If the game crashes or hangs after team selection and the game starts, it is a graphical error.

When you have graphical errors, its usually due to a few things.
- mismatched sizes
- uncompressed archives
- incorrect headers

We know that EA introduced the .bh file in 2006 as additional header information for all the archive files (BIG, FSH and VIV). If you don't run the BHImport bat to create these .bh files with genbhnhl.exe you get corrupt textures or crashes.

The other thing that causes crashes is uncompressed and mismatched archive offsets. Thats another reason for using the -c and -r command when making bats with ImpBIG, to reassign the offset values and make sure the files are compressed so they run efficiently.

And the last thing that causes crashes are file mismatches. 2x is great - provides high quality graphics, crispness and clarity. Bad thing is, it bloats the filesize of your archive and requires a lot of memory to display correctly. So people who are having crashing problems after installing 2x textures, 9 times out of 10 are suffering from one o the following:

- not enough RAM
- a lower end video Card
- a video card with insufficient graphical RAM
- a processor which is too slow

Chances are, people who are crashing from the 2x ices are because of one of the above problems.

No problems or crashes here in XP. The ice looks fantastic - superb job TF!

Drezz is probably right 'cause I'm running a core 2 quad, 4GB ram, and a 512MB video card...

it maybe a stupid question but i wonder what the differents between 1x and 2x ices if that the dimensions of the ices templates or only the quality.

I couldn't get it to work either That's the only reason i installed Kubox's ice pack. Although i did install TF's San Jose ice while i was waiting for Kubox to finish and had to reduce the resolution. That being said it kinda defeats the purpose of 2X ice. End result i installed Kubox's complete pack once it was complete (as i said already...sorry bad habit of repeating myself and rambling...like now)

If thats the case then something that Drezz pointed out in his post must be the culprit...if I can run it than so should you. Sometimes (at least in my personal dumb ass experiance) its usually something either obvious.staring me in the face thats the problem. I hope you resolve it because these bad boys look really good.....I had last years boards and I dont remember who's ices installed up until 2 days ago (Dt's boards and TF's 2X ices now) and I cant tell how much better it looks.....no knock on the other guys stuff because I thought the game looked good to begin with, but these two fellas really out did themselves.
Good luck..I wish I had the answer for you

From what I can tell, it's not a problem with the game or the computer. I must be having a compatibility problem with some other program. Like I said, I cannot even view his ices with fshx. It causes fshx to give a runtime error and close.

Right now, I have kubox's ice pack installed. No offence TF, but I really do not see a difference in kubox's and yours at 1x, so I'll most likely stick with that. Both packs seem to be equally good and acurate, his was just out first.

its a long shot. but recentley out of no where I had my Anahiem crowds go pink...then Anahiems goalie masks and Kolzigs mask go pink..tried to view them with Fshx and had the problem your having....opened up the file with Bigui and saw that the Anahiem crowd and those two masks were not compressed...(they worked fine before) I compressed and rebuilt them and ran BHimport and still had both problems. I re-installed each one I was having problems with individually and it worked.
I guess to make a long story short open up the ices (after insatlling TF's 2x) with bigui and see if everything is compressed....like I said its a long shot

P.S. I still have no idea why that happened and I can only guess that one thing I installed somehow screwed up another so every time I insatll something I have been opening up my files and checking them out...Im anal.

That still would not explain why I wouldn't be able to view them in fshx. I even tried to "double resolution" a kubox ice with fshx and I received the runtime error then fshx closed (crashed). So I have no clue.

I know its strange..but thats what happened to me with those items I mentioned. I could not view them in Fshx and Fshx crashed and when I re-installed them individually they worked.

no offense taken

ices are the biggest files used when playing a game, so that must be the reason why more people crash with 2x ices than with 2x boards, cyberfaces, masks etc.

ill be releasing a 1x version in about an hour or so, so all problems should be fixed for the people who want my ice but cannot get 2x to work

I SUGGEST DOWNLOAD MY 2X VERSION HERE FIRST, AND THEN IF THAT CRASHES FOR YOU, THEN YOU SHOULD INSTALL THIS. TRY THE 2X VERSION FIRST BECAUSE IT IS OF HIGHER QUALITY THAN THIS

I've released my icepack for the 2008-09 season. It contains HIGHLY ACCURATE 1x textures for all NHL teams. The download file is a .exe file, but it not the installer, just a decompresser. The file will ask you where to extract the files to (I suggest you extract them to your NHL08 directory). Then you can run the .bat file, it will install the textures, rebuild the files, and run BHimport, and delete all temporary files. It has only been tested on NHL08, but it *should* work on NHL05 and newer. I have added the change directory line in the .bat file, so Vista users have one less step to do. I will be releasing a 1x version soon. I decided not to release the rest of the unreleased ices individually because they are all included in this anyway.

hey TF,

your ices are really great! the 2x version works great on my below par system so I really appreciate these.
i'm still trying to find a picture of the new Scotiabank Place (ottawa) ad, it was huge and on the other side of the direct energy ad. it looked like an eastern conference championship crest (i was watching it online, so the resolution wasn't great) but it looked real cool. I don't know where people find the pictures of the ads, but are there sites that look after the ice ads? i'm having a hard time finding a picture for you.

i was originally planning to update the Ottawa ice with that new logo, i too looked on internet clips, but couldn't really identify and find a logo for it, so if you find one, definitely tell me and ill update as soon as i can
try flickr for photos and sportslogos.net for sports logos
i found this on sportslogos, but i cant tell for sure if its right: http://sportslogos.net/images/logos/1/985/full/6858.gif

For that new Ottawa Ad, its actually one for Scotiabank. Its a red crest with Scotiabank across the top. The Black NHL symbol in the middle with a star on either side. ie. * NHL *. I think its for Scotiabank now being the "offical bank of the NHL" I still haven't found a good picture of it yet. Other than that. Excellent Icepack!!! Great work!
