My tries at maskmaking - comments?

Hi, again!

So the forum wouldn't let me edit my threadtitle, so i made a new thread where i will show my masks, or atleast my tries at maskmaking!

This is my second mask, and i've changed template to decyphers mask 06, creds to him first of all. I don't know how or why, but suddenly i can open some of the PS-made templates in PSP (which i'm much more used to)!

This time I tried to make Jamie McLennans Islanders' mask from back in 1995/96. It still takes me lots of time to make a simple mask, like this one, but i guess thats what its like to be a newbie

No copy and paste, all handmade, but i had some problems with making the lines on the side of the mask, since i couldn't get the angle i wanted to. Oh, and yeah, the stretching is pretty bad on the top left and right logos. Whats the trick behind unstretching? Is to make the image not so wide, but keeping the height, so it stretches it self to correct size?:

And here's my reference-shot:

Better referenceshot this time.

Any comments, tips?

Thanks for now!

//Robert

P.S: Next up Don Beaupre's old Sens mask from '95

Thanks, I like these old goalies, cause it was in 94-95 I got hooked on NHL-hockey (because then hockeycards came to sweden )! I have more oldtime goalies on the waiting list!

Anyone who could shed some light on my stretchingproblems?

Thanks for the comments! More to come

Alright, folks!

Time for my third mask, still using decyphers mask 06, creds to him.

Don Beaupre's old Senators mask from back in 94-95 was the victim this time:

Still no c&p, but darn, what a pain-in-the-crack-job! Yeah, I know its simple, and for an experienced maskmaker this would take like 2 mins But for me...5-6 hours! I hade to hand-draw the Ottawa Parliament-building of a foto i found on the web, then i had to try to make "gold" for the first time aswell! I don't think the stretching is that bad on this one, but i'll let you be the judge:

And here's my reference-shot:

Am I doing any progress at all?
Comments, tips?

Thanks for now!

//Robert

P.S: Next up: Robb Staubers Sabresmask (You who messed me about requests, just hang tight, i'm getting to it!)

nice job bro. you'll notice as you go along that you can pinpoint where the masks will stretch so you can figure out how to compensate for it. keep up the good work.

Here we go again!

Fourth mask in my "vintage"-series, using decyphers mask 06, creds to him.

Andy Moog made his only season in Montreal (1997-98) his last, after 17 seasons in Edmonton, Boston and Dallas. Even though he was in an respectable age, when he retired in '98, he posted some 3 SO and an GAA of 2.49!

Well, this might not either be the most beautiful or difficult mask out there, but I really like the simplicity in these old masks. This perticular one of Andy Moog in Habs, was actually an request from fortuna, also my first request to be done. The mask is a little to shiny, but i think that is the temp i'm using, will try to think of that next time. I have actually tried to put the Habs-logos on the accurate place where Moog has them, I didn't just throw them on Just a little "detail"-thinking! I think it turned out ok, what do you guys think?

I tried to get better on small details, and enhancing my zero-2-none-skills this far A little stretching occurs on some of the top logos, but i'm practising to get rid of these!

Todays reference-shot:

Enjoy, people!

And keep telling me right from wrong

Thanks for now!

//Robert

Yeah, I know, that one is a b*tch I've been searching for reference-pics and thinking out how to do this the best way. Its a huge mask and darn hard to make, so i'll se when i have time for it! Its on my schedule atleast!

turco35: I will look into Jon Casey!
VFrocker: Yeah i know its pinkish, but i think that depends on the masktemplate. It has too much different lights on it, so i have to check where to lower the shinyness

Here we go again!

Fifth mask from me, using decyphers mask 06, creds to him.

José Theodore played his first rookie game on the 21st of februari 1996, when he made a 8 min jumpin, replacing Pat Jablonski. The Habs lost that game with 3-5, opposing goaltender Sean Burke in Hartford!

When I was importing my mask i saw that it had already been made very good by Jimboni (for his Project97!). Here's his mask:

Although I notice he had a better Itechlogo than me, I also see that he was kind of sloppy on the Habslogos, since the topones don't have the blue around them, but i'll let you be the judge of who's the best Oh and mind the spelling on Jimboni's mask: CANANADIENS

Not a very difficult mask, but i'm still perfecting my skills, so bare with me on this ok? This Habs-mask is also a request from fortuna! I regret not finding the correct OLD itech-logo, so sorry for that!

Todays reference-shot:

Enjoy, people!

Any "simple" requests guys?

//Robert
