Your 07-08 Unis
I was afraid you where going to stop. You said it was until someone else realeased theirs. Howevere as NHL08 is coming this may not happen for NHL07 to have the new Unis. I wish you would keep going to doing the rest. For those that are still using NHL07. You think they are not the best and you know what you can do. However it is still better than nothing. Thanks and I hope you still continue with these 08UNIs.

its his thread about things he's made.
I think he is doing a fine job of jerseys. I personally do not give a shit if the stitching isn't 100% accurate. I'm too busy playing the game rather than pausing it to inspect each jersey for dead on accuracy.

actually it's got less then squat to do with addons. However instead of starting 50 bazillion threads everywhere why not just preview anything and EVERYTHING that's "Jimbo's schizznitt" in this thread?? If I make it, post it, beat it with a stick it'll be in here.
Yammer: I agree totally but becuase this place is now an extension of DMD AND because everyone is so anal retentive, it's either do something 150% correct, OR don't bother posting. Just the way it's always been, that's why no addons are made anymore, cause even the super heavyweights are sick to death of being ripped for wrong cross stitching. Now imagine a poor schmuck who's never attempted anything getting ripped at his first try?? I'll keep learning and posting what I want cause....frankly I don't give a crapola. If people like it, they'lll download it, if they don't they won't.

thats really not the case at all, but if you want to believe that go right ahead
Lots of people have offered you many helpful tips and you are choosing to take the negative out of what 2 or 3 comments to make a huge generalization? Take a look at all the recent threads where people have taken a chance at something new - were they ripped for it? Were they scrutinized? Nope - helpful tips were given and in each case the authors appreciated the tips and improved vastly.
As for your so called 'super heavyweights,' we WANT people to scrutinize our stuff. If anything it gets annoying when the only comments are "OMG WOAH!" because the guys who have the talent are constantly looking to improve and want constructive criticism. And what about those who just do it for the fun? Well thats fine, but guess what its a big internet world we are living in and if someone has a comment to make they are going to make it - live with it. Its your own personal choice as to how you respond or don't respond to it, if you are only in it for the fun then why should a few peoples comments stop you - and if thats the way you live your life trust me you wont be going far.
So no, there is no 'elite' class here or huge condescending group of 'DMD'ers' who rip anything that isnt 150% It exists in your own mind and it is perpetuated by your comments about 'super-heavyweights.' So while you have a right to your opinion, I am here to pose mine and that is that yours is completely baseless and untrue.

WARNING: LONG AZZED RANT COMING....
Unorthodox, I also like criticism, as it's the only way to gain helpful insight on how to improve. However don't tell me about the clique mentality that used to be around DMD and still permeates the atmosphere today. I can tell you the all out wars that used to happen back in the day (circa mid 2001 to almost late 2002 (when multiple bannings quelled all criticisms.) IT got so bad at one point the place almost died9not to mention Lazer's little almost single handed success of destroying all that was built), but luckily addon talent and cooler heads preveiled.
I've been around these boards longer then the dinosours, and can tell you first hand this place is damn DAMN intimidating for a newbie to try and establish himself or his talent. Unless you produce top shelf eye dropping talent right from the get go, you're poo poo'd as a "depot" level talent.(look at Luke Hebner. The guy sucked bubkus so bad early on and was slammed so bad any normal sane person woulda quit outright. Not luke, he didn't give a crap less, keep honing his work, to please him, not anyone else, and eventually DESPITE everyone he became excellent(in my opinion one of THEE BEST now especially at unis)
That's what's so ironic in that Depot has chugged along, thru all the muck, all the wars, all the bullcrapola and keep on going like a fine oiled timex. I wanna get better, ESPECIALLY this year since many of the super artists will no longer grace us with their work mostly due to age, time contraints etc..
Somebody's got to make the stuff, might as well be me to a degree seeing how I can virtually make a passible effort at everything the game has to offer. I don't and never have made works of art, I just make what I can within my abilities. If it's good enough great, if not I'll keep trying to improve, but won't let it deter me in what I'm doing.
The only real artsy true talent I've ever posessed has been musical ability. I can play guitar (anything I can "ear" I can play note for note upto Malmsteen (in which I can do, but at a 6th/10th pace), I can sing, play keyboard and have a natural born ear for tones/shapes and octaves.
Again I welcome advice with fully open arms...however you can see even in this thread, there's two groups emerging, one get her done, get her released and it doesn't have to be perfect, the other, take your time, fix every damn thing, and THEN after it's perfect release. I am and always will be somewhere between the 2 and that's what this is about cause I get stuck bewteen both groups...
ahhh but I digress....back to addons

This place is NOT an extension on DMD. Depot is just more focus on addons while TBN is more of a general hockey talk/emo site. Sorry, but when you see 90 threads about kids crying why girls left them and shit then its emo.

Keep making the add-ons the way you were. Nobody is forcing these people to download every single file on the site. There will be atleast 1 person who appreciates your work every time you release something.

@Jimbo66: Don't stop. Try to improve the stitching, but I like all your jersey's and have downloaded all of them. As other people already have written: Nobody is forced to download anything. The 98.7% accurate Calgary Flames jersey is great.

thanks, I've dropped all the other bullarky above, it's not worth discussing. I just found a way waaayyy better Alberta crest so I'll recrest it and show it on the unis, as well I really don't like the numbers after using em a while, they're too small and even with minimal yellow to the outside of the homes, they still look mostly yellow, not white from a distance. I'll remake em today. Neat idea by the Flames dropping the flaming horse head most fans disliked and replacing it with an alberta crest. Fans can't argue about their home province, and it adds more fire to the battle of alberta with the flames insinuating their "alberta's team" with those crests...

uhh, I'm sorry to continue this, but I really fail to see a point/argument in all of this - infact my head hurts from reading it. Your link between Depot and DMD is really not going anywhere, especially since the most active posters still are those who were already at depot (or guys mainly focused with add-ons) and most of the DMD guys have moved on from addons. Then you go on to say you've been around forever but at the same time jump and say you know from experience that this place today is intimidating for a noob. You would have to be one to know wouldn't you? I also see no point in you mentioning the 'two groups emerging' as its basically a re-hash of what I already said; its a big world out there and there are obviously going to be various opinions and its their right to have and express them freely. And you haven't said anything in respect to the very recent examples of guys coming out freely and trying new things and not being bashed at all but helped and guided. Not so much a rant or argument but a story about yourself and add-ons.
Whatever reality you have built up in your head is not consistent with the one in which we are currently living. There is no depot/dmd divide, there was but it no longer exists, there is no elite class here what we have here is a collection of people who are passionate about hockey and graphics. If you want to continue living in the past go right ahead but you are only perpetuating the mentality that you are supposedly condemning by doing so.

Hey Jimbo, I think you're taking things too close. There always are going to be people who don't like something in your stuff. Its a life! So you need to think about what people are saying, and make it clear to yourself - is it something that needs to be worked on or something that doesn't make any sence. Thats in case of empty (non constructive criticism, if you will). From the other hand - if you'll look at what people are discussing and suggesting - you might see a treand or pattern. Peope around here are quite spoiled, i should say. And thats a great thing about them - cause you are getting comments from people who have seen great add-ons. So they tend to see things similarly. In that case - its a gold thing. Because its something that you NEED to work on. Thats critical!!! So analyze it, and work on it. There nothing offensive about it. Accept it, think about improving things and move on. That critics will keep you in shape and will sharpen the quality of your add-ons. Never take it personally.
Also i would disregard comments that tells you "don't post anything until its done" or something like that. Thats how you learn. You show stuff - people say - "Boooooo"...you improve it - People say - "Its Okey"...you work on it more - People say - "Please RELEASE!!!!"
So keep it up!

I agree with Alex.
Though like we told you before, please, work on your stuff before releasing it. I've seen so many simple things you could've fixed before releasing I don't know where to start. I know you aren't a god with the pen tool yet (nor do I think you actually use it), but every good addon maker sucked with the pen tool at the begining. Practise by making wallpapers, simple drawings, hell even abstract graphism could help you develop your abilities.

As I said before, I see a lot of potential in your work. It could be along with the best if you just practice.

oh god a gradient jersey design!
Aside from that I think they would make much better jerseys than the stuff they are actually using this year *pukes. What do you think of the new flyers stuff jimbo? I take it you are in the process of making them.

Guys in general, I'm working and discovering new ways of doing stuff all the time. I'm improving in tiny increments as I go. I do my own thing and if people like it great, I'm basically making addons for me, and releasing em,as I've said all along until someone with real skill can do em.
Being a billion year old dog, teaching me new tricks is more of a process of pointing ways of doing things to me, and then me refiguring it out again and adding it in.I'm not someone who can just have something explained and bang it's done, I need to fiddle and fart sometimes several times before even a simple concept sinks in(I'm still grasping stitching. It's easy enough to do, yet somehow I'm still screwing something up so I'm not adding it yet)
I'm in the process of redooing everything, and I'll redoo it probably 2-5 more times. Again my approach is something even skewered is better then NOTHING, and I am slowly coming along. Plus as you're noticing I'm deleting the old stuff I've uploaded as the newer stuff is made so it's the same bandwidth off our server.(Whew.....I talk too much)
Unorthodox, being the Canucks and Flyers are my team's I'll be doing and redooing them several times. The biggest beeitch with the flyers new unis is the orange stripe on the sleeve. Is it a V is it a U or is it soething altogether. I think I'll wait until they show em in their entirety before I whack at em again. The canucks I'm definately redooing as I hated the last effort.
