Versioning/changelog

CURRENT: 1.00 (02-27-2008)
-All trades/call-ups as of 02-26-2008 (NHL Trade deadline)
-Most captaincies updated
-Changed files: rosters only
-Gave up updating non-NHL team rosters
-All trade deadline deals are done but some guys aren't starting like Hossa on the Penguins. I chose not to have the game generate the lines. All NHL lines are complete. I didn't do it because I wanted to have some accurate captaincies because the game changes those.
-Added update.bat for people who already have the BETA version installed.

######### Installation

1. Copy all files to your NHL06 directory (including the db.viv and exhibition.exh!!!)
2. It is recommended that you backup your files before proceeding
3. The installer will backup the following files for you:

My Documents\NHL06\exhibition.exh
My Documents\NHL06\exhibition.exha.tdb
db\db.viv

It will put these files in My Documents\NHL06\backup
It will copy the new files into their correct locations

NOTE: This will only work if you have NHL06 installed in its default location (c:\program files\ea sports\nhl06) and have not renamed My Documents!
This also will not likely work in Windows Vista!

4. It will then import the torfs, logos and jerseys for the all star teams

NOTE: This also will replace your FrontEnglish.bin file! It was changed to rename the all-star teams!

5. It will then rebuild all the affected archives (VIV and BIG files) used in the mod. It will also regenerate the headers for you!

6. lastly it will delete all the FSH and BIG files in your NHL06 folder, so if you have any extra files of these types in there, make sure to back them up. Alternatively, when you get to that step you can cancel out of the batch file. I have it set to pause before it does that step.

7. Run BHImport when finished. This file is not provided. BHImport07 (for NHL 07) was used during development and testing.

I. All NHL rosters are up to date with the correct players
II. All rosters have game generated lines and captaincy
III. All SM-Liiga, SEL and DEL rosters are updated (as of the beginning of the NHL Season) and are playable
IIII. All 4 All-star teams renamed to defunct teams:

Eastern All-Stars = Winnipeg Jets
Western All-Stars = Quebec Nordiques
North America = Hartford Whalers
World = Minnesota North Stars

V. Jerseys for All-Star teams are EA stock jerseys from Phoenix, Dallas and Colorado.
VI. Retro Team FE logos redone by myself.
VII. There are still at least 7 broken World Tournament Teams. I would not recommend playing a World Tournament at this time.
VIII. All Custom teams have auto generated lines, although most of them are not completed.
VIIII. Some custom teams are renamed:

80s All Stars = HC Dukla Trencin
90s All Stars = Sodertalje SK
NHL All Stars = EHC Wolfsburg

X. Number of Phoenix Jerseys set to not include Jets from available menu selection.
XI. All torfs designed from me. Picture sources are from eBay.

In addition, if you happened to have downloaded the update (its still on the server somewhere) there are 2 batch files. A regular installer, and one to update if you have the first version installed. One of the two mods uploaded were lost when the server was down. If you know where the other one is, post it here. I could only find the original... There is an all-star version too someplace. :\

I swore I had already made a thread about this but the search can't find it. Please merge if it still exists.

Some may find this thread interesting as I will list trades.

I am back to work on updating the NHL06 roster. After I get approval to re-distribute, I will release on the first of every month if possible. This roster was sent to me by someone else (I need to check my email to remember who) so most of the work was done by them. I got this after I was 95% complete with making my own roster.

This roster contains all current NHL teams. Malmo IF Redhawks has NOT been renamed to be the team that replaced them in the league. It also has a slew of custom teams: AK Bars Kazan, Avangard Omsk, Dynamo Moscow, Great Britain, HC Davos, HC Hame Zin (HCH), HC Lada Togliatti, HC Lugano, HC Moeller-Pardubice, HC Slavia Prague, HC Sparta Prague, HK SKP PS Poprad, HKm Dynamix Nitra, HKm Zvolen, KHK Mettalurg Magnitogorsk, MsHK SKP Zilina and ZSC Lions Zurich. It also contains various All-Star teams that I will not be updating. Those players will either be converted into other players or hidden. The existing International Teams will get players that play in those countries but not for any of the teams in the roster. I will try to set the correct age, draft year, shoot, etc for new players but I will not change their attributes. This will mean that new guys may end up being better or worse than they are in real life. If you can't deal with this then this isn't for you. The custom teams will work without additional add-ons.

Currently, all NHL teams are up to date with exception to various European players that will be moved out as I work on those leagues.

I have started on Elitserien (SEL Swedish Elite League) just today after buying a notebook to write the rosters in. I have updated Brynas IF Gavle (BIF) and Djurgardens IF Stockholm (DIF).

I'm still working on this thing! I have decided that these will be the 3 new teams I will add to the roster:

HC Dukla Trencin
Sodertalje SK
EHC Wolfsburg

It won't be done by the time the regular season starts, so I will only get to release a beta version at that time.

Reminder: this is a roster I am making for myself and I don't care much about which way they shoot, how much money they make, etc. I just update players, teams, position and jersey numbers.

At this time, all NHL rosters are current (but line arrangements are crap), so are the rosters for Elitserien and SM-Liiga. The All-Star teams are non-functioning, as well as a couple of the international teams. I will try to fix those before the season starts.

OK a little update. All NHL teams are updated player wise. 4 NHL teams are updated concerning guys who have played on the major club this year, and the rest of the guys are in the additionals. All SM-Liiga, SEL and DEL teams are finished. Redid the roster for the Eastern All-Stars to be the Winnipeg Jets.

Since I converted the EAS to the Jets, I am going to include torfs, jerseys and logos in my update when it is ready. All torfs are going to be done by me, all jerseys are stock jerseys renamed. All logos are done by me.

I had to use StrEdit to get the All-Stars to show up as the Winnipeg Jets. I will look into a way to automate that process later. Otherwise the All Star teams will have new graphics but still be called by their given name in the game. I have posted some progress in other threads but I think I will keep all progress in here instead.

Latest:
1. Changed Phoenix Coyotes jersey count to 5 instead of 9.
2. Changed the Eastern All-Stars jersey count to 4 instead of 2.
3. Moved the 4 Winnipeg Jets jerseys for use by EAS.
4. Updated all Logos for EAS
5. Currently using stock Jets Torfs for EAS but working on card inspired design. Not like that guy who made card torfs but I want to use actual card pictures.

Fixed Jets Medium size logo.

First attempt at making a card Torf:

If anyone could tell me the size ratio that the game uses on Torfs, that would be great.

Dig and dig as I may, it seems there are no stock Hartford Whalers jerseys in the game. I might have to get approval to use someone else's! Found the North Stars jerseys OK, weird how the Stars had like 12 jersey slots and I thought the max was 9! Oh well. I started converting the Western All-Stars over as well.

I learned how to import the frontEnglish.bin into the fe\local.viv, so I can include that as well. That will take care of the team names showing up properly.

Most of the created guys on these throwback teams have low ratings. I wasn't sure how that would play out at first but then I thought it made it seem more normal. Mostly because guys nowadays are so much faster than players before. So I am not worried about the player ratings for these guys at all.

I still require a Whalers jersey, so anyone who knows one I can use let me know.

I did the roster for Soldartje SK, and fixed the torfs for the "all-star" teams. Still left on my plate:

1. Finish all custom team rosters
2. Update all NHL team assignments
3. Update fe logos for all star teams

After that has happened, I will release a public beta. That way I can get feedback on the roster. The feedback will give me a list of updates or patches I will eventually make to it. I will also be working on the following once the main roster is completed:

1. With permission, a jersey pack for the custom teams, including FE and torfs.
2. A whole new torf system for the whole league using the real card idea.
3. A Phoenix Coyotes front-end for the game.

Speaking of torfs.... I can't help how the game displays these. Any thoughts on how to make them less blurry?

So far there is 54 downloads and I haven't gotten any complaints about it yet. The other thing I want to mention is the rating actually makes sense since it isn't a finished product. However with no feedback all I am going to fix is the Jets logo for the next update. I may also change the arena that the All-Star teams play in.

The next update will come after the trade deadline, and the Beta portion of the name will be lifted. The final version will be 1.00.

This project is suspended indefinately. I am announcing my retirement of doing mods for NHL06. I haven't the time nor motivation to continue with it. Sorry if this leaves anyone hanging. I also am not going to be completing the partial update that I had uploaded at the beginning of the season.
