SellesAddons - Custom Teams WIP

I was working on a project to make custom teams for NHL07. I originally had this posted over at TBN, but since all addons are moved to NHL Depot, here I am.

So far I have 14 custom teams planned out, and they are:
Saskatchewan Freeze
Indianapolis Tigers
Portland Peaks
Halifax Bears
Quebec Nordiques
Baltimore Atlantics
Seattle Metropolitans
Kansas City Broncos
Las Vegas Rattlers
Hamilton Steelheads
Winnipeg Jets
Hartford Whalers
Salt Lake City Marshals
Anchorage Ice

To get things started off, here is the Freeze.

And some in games.

Any questions or comments?

Yammer: I didn't do Edmonton because the Oilers jerseys are fine the way they are.
Zoo: I made a fantasy version of the Nordiques, but the Jets and Whalers are the real deal.
Eugene Power: lol. That was an old screen shot from NHL06. The upper fans are much more refined now for 07.

Here are the Indianapolis Tigers:

Thanks man.

I ended up making Washington Capitals fantasy jerseys.

I don't have any in games for these ones.

Well, maybe it's time for another Caps dynasty? I still have to make the numbers and letters for them though, I haven't been able to find a good font for it.

But onto other teams, I have the Baltimore AtlanticsL

And some in game shots:

Good to see your showing your work off here now Selles. Hopefully it will get released very soon. I saw you tried to release it at TBN but then they decided to move the add-ons over here instead. Everything looks great man, can't wait to download them all. :-)

I like all of them, but the Rattlers are really sharp looking. One of my favorites actually (along with the Freeze and the Portland Peaks...which you haven't shown off here yet but I know you will....hint hint hint!!). Where did you come up with the logo for them anyway?? Later!!!

Thanks man. I understand about the Buckaroos, but the Peaks are one of my favourites of the custom teams I've created. And I'll change that mission logo lol.

Anyway, here are the Kansas City Broncos, modeled after the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL.

And some in games.

I like the Rattlers, the Peaks, and the Freeze the best myself. They are all really good though and it's hard to pick a favorite. I really like his Capitals jersies too, this is what they should be wearing nevermind the current design. Seattle Metropolitans is a good one too, for some reason those haven't been shown off here yet....C'mon Selles, show us the Metropolitans man!! ;-)

Hey guys, thanks for all the comments.

Fireholder: Are all the crests too big, or just for certain teams? I like when teams have large crests, so I tried to do the same with my custom teams. I understand that sometimes the in game stretching skews the cresting a little too much, but I try to avoid that.

Here are the Hamilton Steelheads

Hey selles great job

I remember using your jets and freeze addons in nhl 06 for a season each before I messed it up(the roster bug). I was thinking of starting a custom team but not that you have this project going I might just use your jets addon instead. What's the ballpark figure on when this project will be ready? a week? end of may? or do not have tons of time and it will be ready when it's ready?

Selles, I need some help with my created teams... my question pertains to logos and EAs built in logos and all that jazz.

And a comment on your teams. I love every single one, especially the Rattlers and the Broncos... my only question... or comment rather is that I think at least a few of the teams should have an alternate logo shoulder patch or something of the sort. I think that would give them such a finished feel.

Thanks man.

First off, about the created teams logos, I have a ready-made bat and fsh file for you that will solve your problem. I could email it to you, or if you have MSN you could add me if you'd like.

And about my custom teams, thanks again for the comments. I agree with you that I should have alternate logos for each team. I have made one for the Freeze, but I never used it as a shoulder patch. I don't like the way the shoulder stretches in the game, it always distorts the shoulder patches.

I messaged you my email address... I don't have MSN.

I agree... the Cincinnati Comets jersey I posted in the thread about the Cleveland Knights was my first stab at this whole thing. I popped some alternates on the shoulders and... well, they don't look spectacular when the players arms are at the sides. I have found that the smaller I make them, the better they look for obvious reasons.

And on another note, I love logo creation... I might take a run at some alternates for you if you'd like.

I'll end with a question back to your court... for your created teams, A) can you see your custom jerseys in the pre-game jersey selector? and B) can you add alternate jerseys to choose from?

Thanks much!

sp4585: I sent you the email, I hope it works for you. As for the questions, I cannot see my custom jersey in the pre-game jersey selector, but I could change it if I want. Having the default one there doesn't bother me so much. I think there is a way to an alternate jersey slot for the created teams, but I'm not sure exactly how to do it.

As for alternate logos, here is the alternate logos for the Saskatchewan Freeze

It's the shape of Saskatchewan/perspective view of a hockey rink and the head of a wheat plant.

Got the email and package. I'll be putting the files and info to good use sometime tomorrow. Thanks again!

As far as adding alternates, heres what I tried before:

I created 3 additional uni fsh's (uni248_2, _3, and _4). I then created the alpha-numeric fsh files to correspond (just using the originals from the 2 default home and away jerseys) and named/numbered accordingly. I then tried using NHL View to specify that my team had 5 jerseys (changed from 2) and that the alternate index was "2".

Saved in NHL View and ran BigGUI to import my fsh files to jerseys.viv. As I recall, all of the files imported, but BigGUI crashed very soon after the import. Never having actually hit "rebuild" I thought I was alright. I reopened BigGUI and attempted to open jerseys.viv. The viv would not open, giving me an error about some type of incorrect offset info for entry number blahblah.

It's safe to assume it was giving me this because my unrecognized file numbers never had data for the field "offset". Problem is, I'm not sure what "offset" is actually referring to or how to give my special little fsh files their own data for "offset". Having this error every time I tried to open jersey.viv, I had to restore the file from a backup and start from scratch with my jersey addon importing.

If it's not possible, which seems to be the case, oh well.

One other question, I exported a few of the files numbered 100.fsh through 150(or so).fsh to see what part of the jerseys these would be but my FSHX could not open them. Is that normal? You mentioned in the email that these are the logos from EA. Shouldn't I be able to see them in FSHX and import my own art?

THANKS AGAIN!!!
