Goalie Addon Fix (Taken from DMD)

In this thread, there have been a couple of folks that don't know how exactly to import addons into the game using BigGUI, FSH-X and NHL-View, so I thought I'd make you a tutorial on it..

First off, this are the programs needed:

FSH-X

BigGUI

NHL-View

BH-Import (v2)

Download them here:

FSH-X, BigGUI, BH-Import (V2)

NHL View

The principle on importing goalie-addons "The hard way", using BigGUI and FSH-X is the same no matter if it is a mask, stick or pads, just follow this descriptions and you should be allright..!
__________________________________________________ ______________

Additional Info:

After you've downloaded the following programs, extract them. Every file except for FSH-X can go straight into your NHL main folder (c:\programfiles\ea\nhl06\ or something. My main folder is c:\nhl, so I will work out of that when I'm doing this...)

I've placed the FSH-X program in the other NHL06 folde which is located in my documents\nhl06

I use Adobe Photoshop CS to edit my masks and to view different masks and for convertion from jpg's or other imagefiles into .bmp files..

Your imagefile that is going into the game, weather it's a mask, pads, stick or whatever must always be .bmp format...!

I've used Dwayne Roloson as the example on importing goalie-gear!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Step One:

Step one is simple; You have f.ex; a goalie mask that you want to import into the game because you don't know how to make .bat files or the file isn't working.

Below is a sample of a goalie-mask that can be imported into the game:

This is a fantasy mask I made for Dwayne Roloson in my Pens dynasty (Credit to Raven for the template)

What you can do to get the particular mask you want into the game is following:

1: Import the mask strictly on your goalie's ID-# f.ex; Roli's # is 0724
How do you find the goalie's particular ID-#?

Use NHL-View

The number that appears in the box that is circled is the ID-# you should remain to in BigGUI.

Step Two:

Open BigGUI.

Open goalies.viv file. This file is located in c:\nhl\gamedata\

When you've opened this file, alot of numbers should appear. Every particular number is connected with goalies in game. Note: If you can't find the goalie number you're after in goalies.viv, the goalie hasn't been created. There are two steps to assign that goalie the particular mask you want. This will be explained later.

As you can see, Roli's .fsh number is circled.

Click on goalies_helm_0724.fsh so that it's marked grey, then export (push the button that is circled in the picture below), the file to my documents\nhl06 or the folder of your choice, preferably where FSH-X is located.

Open up FSH-X and open the file you just exported (goalies_helm_xxxx.fsh)

Now you should have the mask that is installed (both back of the mask and the mask) on that particular goalie shown in the FSH-X program like below:

Next: Import the .bmp of your choice to replace the default or addon mask that is already there

After you've imported the mask of your choice, it should look like this:

The next step is to save the product, then to import the file back into goalies.viv doing following:

Press the IMPORT button that is circled in the picture below and select the goalies_helm_xxxx.fsh file that you just worked on in the FSH-X program (in this case, goalies_helm_0724.fsh)

You will get a question of overwriting the file since it's already located in goalies.viv file. Just push YES..!

As you can see in the picture below, the file is not packed (compressed). To do so, push the COMPRESS button that is circled below. NOTE: Be sure to highlight the file you're working on before compressing or else the file won't be compressed...

The next thing to do is to rebuild the file that is now compressed.
It's simple, just push the rebuild button that is circled in, yes; the picture below

After you've done that the file should be in-game already so it's just for you to close BigGUI and FSH-X, but the last step is the most important of them all after addons...

Step Three:

Run BH-Import, that should be located in your main NHL folder after you've extracted it there, after you've edited the masks, pads or sticks in BigGUI. NOTE: ALWAYS run BH-Import after you've installed an addon into your game no matter what. It's just one of those thumbrules you always follow
Additional info part two:

If the mask still won't appear in game, it could be for the following reasons: The game have default goalies. This problem have already been explained by Drezz in this particular thread, and it can be solved in two ways:

Like Drezz explained; The simple way: If you're f.ex. are Montreal and you want to use Huet as your starting goalie, but he appears in game with Theo's mask; you can put Theo on as your starting goalie when you edit your lines in the main menu, but when you start the game itself, press ESC button --> edit your lines --> replace Theo with Huet before the game, and you should be allright.

The "difficult" way; Which is no longer difficult since you now have a tutorial on how to do it ; replace the default mask with the mask of your choice.

The default numbers for the teams is goalie_helm_8002.fsh ---> goalie_helm_8027.fsh in the goalies.viv file that you can edit by using BigGUI and FSH-X just like you did if you followed the above steps.

The other reason for why the mask doesn't appear on the goalie of your choice (f.ex. Lundqvist), is that he haven't been created with the game itself, he's in the NY Rangers roster because you either used EA's Rosters or some other rosters that you've downloaded and put into your game.

There is a way to get him assigned to a particular mask.

Just edit the custom masks that came along with the game

Example of custom EA masks above

Just replace Lundqvist's new mask with one of those and assign him to the particular mask using NHL-View.

The EA custom masks are listed from goalies_helm_5500.fsh ---> goalies_helm_5526.fsh

Select one of the masks, export it, open FSH-X, import the bmp-mask of your choice to replace the custom mask, import the file back into goalies.viv using BigGUI, compress and rebuild.

Save of course.

I replaced Lundqvist's new mask with the custom ITECH-Jester mask doing the steps explained above.

Open up your NHL-View and find Lundqvist.

Assign him to the particular mask you just replaced.

There are some Custom Masks that are listed with only numbers (Custom Mask 1, 2, 3 and up to #10). These are the same masks as goalie_helm_5500.fsh --> goalie_helm_5509.fsh in the goalie.viv file. If you chosed to overwrite one of them, don't forget to assign the goalie to the right number in NHL-View. Custom Mask 1 is equal to goalie_helm_5500.fsh.

Now, you should be allright after following the steps and the goalie would appear perfect in your game just like good old Roli

PS: Remember that this tutorial goes for the same if you wanna import pads or sticks into the game..

PPS: I strongly recommend you all to download either Fredd's or BvH's rosters and install them into your game. Those updates contains all the "new" goalies and players that EA didn't put in the game (Yan Danis, Lundqvist, Michael Wall, Michael Garnett and so on), so you won't have to create players on your own to assign them with the proper masks!

REMEMBER TO RUN BH-IMPORT v2 or v3 BEFORE COMING BACK IN HERE NAGGIN ABOUT YOUR GOALIES WENT PINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is not an original, its a copy from the guys at DMD. Some of the Depot guys are not able to get on to their forums since they have no account, so i decided to post it all here.

but yes good point, you save after each import.
