Exclamation Production of the 2005 CGP begins!

The release date for the NHL 2005 version of the CGP, which some of you may remember from NHL 2004, (If you don't, I've included one of the preview images.) is set for April.

Well, it's finally time to do it for 2005. But we need a new list of goalies. I think I have to include Sean Burke and Stephane Fiset, but there's no guarantee for Fiset.

So, if anyone wants to help out, let's make a list of goalies to be included in the new version of the pack.

Goalies done in the last version will be converted for 2005, and I may make some minor tweaks to clean up any errors.

The last pack included:

Felix Potvin, (1997, Toronto)
Patrick Roy, (1993, Montreal)
Ron Hextall (Philadelphia, Liberty-Bell mask)
Bob Essensa (Winnipeg)
Grant Fuhr (Late 80's Edmonton)
Bill Ranford, (Early 90's Edmonton)
Mike Vernon, (1989,Calgary)
Mike Vernon, (Stanley Cup season, Detroit)
Mike Richter, (Late NY Rangers era)
Kelly Hrudey, (1993, Los Angeles)
Don Beaupre, (Early 90's Washington)
Jon Casey, (Minnesota North Stars.)
Kirk McLean, (1994, Vancouver)
Damien Rhodes, (Toronto)
Tom Barrasso, (Stanley Cup Pittsburgh)
John Vanbiesbrouck, (Florida)

Goalies that were intended for the original release but weren't completed and can still be in this pack if you guys want them are:

Stephane Fiset, (Quebec) (Wasn't done because the mask was too much for me. I might be able to handle it now. Hell, I did Moog, how hard can this be?)
Sean Burke, (Hartford) (Wasn't done because there were no good pictures of his mask.)
Grant Fuhr, (Toronto) (Wasn't done due to overloading of Toronto goalies.)
Grant Fuhr, (Buffalo) (Wasn't done due to time constraints.)
Ron Hextall, (Quebec) (Equipment was never finished. I have his mask, already. But it looks more like a frozen monkey than a polar bear)
Ron Tugnutt (Ottawa.) (I just never got around to it.)
Billy Smith (New York Islanders) (I wanted him in the last pack, but for some reason, just never did it.)

Goalies already slated for release in this pack are:
Martin Brodeur, (Rookie season, New Jersey)
Craig Billington (Colorado)
Nikolai Khabibulin (Winnipeg) (Done. Needs some cleanup.)
Nikolai Khabibulin (Phoenix)
Curtis Joseph (Edmonton)
Curtis Joseph (Toronto) (Only if I can do the mask. I'll at least try, but no promises. Same goes for Belfour. Easier than CuJo, but you never know.)
Grant Fuhr (Buffalo)
Grant Fuhr (St. Louis)
Ron Tugnutt (Ottawa)
Guy Hebert (Anaheim)
Jocelyn Thibault (Montreal)
Ed Belfour (San Jose)
Ed Belfour (Chicago)
Dominik Hasek (Buffalo. Both of them.)
Dominik Hasek (Chicago)
Glenn Healy (New York Rangers)
Billy Smith (New York Islanders)
Felix Potvin (New York Islanders)
Felix Potvin (1993, Toronto) (I don't care how many Potvins I have. It's my pack and I'll make 'em all if I want to.)

Now it's your turn. Toss out some names, and I might decide to add them to the pack. Only rules are, no pre-mask-era goalies, and no face-mask goalies. Unless someone finally managed to make an add-on for goalies to wear the face-mask, or to have no mask at all. And the other rule is, they gotta be a goalie from at the VERY least, before 2000. Even a still-active goalie, as long as you're not just asking for his new equipment.

(Note for those just learning about this now,...

I do use temps for my equipment, however, it takes a LOT of time modifying them to suit my needs. I just have no intention of doing any shading and ****. And I use MY mask temp and draw all my masks myself. Nothing is cut and paste, everything is done with the paintbrush in PhotoShop.

I like the goalies that you have listed (ones converted from 2004). I can't think of any goalies that I want that aren't listed off the top of my head. If I think of some, I'll post them. This is great! Looking forward to the release!

I'd like to see...

Belfour - Stars

Cujo - Leafs

Khabibulin - Coyotes

Herbert - Ducks

Thibault - Nordiques

Hasek - Sabres

Khabibulin - Jets

Fuhr - Blues

Hasek - Old Sabres

Tom Barrasso - Pittsburgh, not the one you have. But the gears he wore in his last years in pittsburgh.

I'd personally like to see Thibault on the Habs instead of the 'Diques. Maybe 'cause I'm a Habs fan, but still.

I'd also like to add that the release date for April is only a guideline and is subject to change.

The more detailed masks will take longer, but I will actually have three goalies from the list done tonight, then I will start working on Fuhr.

Looks like a cool project. Hopefully it'll be as good as the '04 version was. Good luck with it.

Nah, no thanks. Besides, McLean is already done.

As well, I was gonna do the two Haseks tonight, but I figured screw it, it's nap time. So for today, you get stuck just with Khabibulin. (Don't worry, I'll clean it up a bit later.)

Love the classic packs Yob! I have a bunch of yours in my 2005. It brings back alot of memories.
You have to think about doing Pelle Lindbergh. I know its no flashy gear but it would awesome. I guess the white default mask would have to do.
I hope you give it some thought.

If you're fine with the default white mask, I could do it as a special request for you once the pack is done. It won't be hard, I may even do it during pack production. It just won't be released as part of the CGP.

Got one Hasek done, but I won't be doing the other one tonight, nor will it be done tomorrow. Soon, after all the easy guys are done, I will start the real project.

Sounds like a plan to me!

Thanks man, cause I suck at making goalie gear.

Thumbs up 'That good ol' hockey game!'

I was not even aware that there was a project of this nature that was made for NHL 2004?? Is it still available for download?? And if so, where can it found?

I'm an 80's guy, so these were just a few of the goalies that I thought were really fun to watch back in the day........

Goalies:

Mike Luit not sure but I think he had a cage??!
Bob Froese (cage )
Chico Resch ( mask )
Brian Hayward (mask)
Allan Bester ( cage )
Darren Puppa (mask)
Clint Malarchuk (mask)
Bob Sauve (cage)
Craig Billington (mask)

Good luck with the project and thanks!

Those are all good ideas. Billington will be included in this version, and I believe I can do Liut. Bester was also considered along with Puppa and Malarchuk. The other guys will have to either wait for 2006, or maybe have an expansion pack.

If I decide I wanna do an expansion pack, I'd be willing to let other people help out on it. Puppa and Bester would also have to wait for an expansion pack unless I scrap one of the other goalies. I can't find any pictures of Brodeur's rookie mask or decent pictures of Burke's Hartford mask, so chances are I'll scrap Brodeur and change Burke to New Jersey, then I'll have room for Puppa or Bester.

If you want to contact me on AIM as John LePettimore, (Don't send a message to YobZarbo on AIM because I use that account for SWC and DVS members only.) or on MSN at Ea5y_B@hotmail.com and I can send you the original pack.

Since you didn't know anything about it, I will tell you that every goalie had an .NV2 file that was to be imported with NHLView which would put that goalie in the game if he wasn't already there. So not only was the equipment there, but the goalie was there, too. Available for classic rosters or custom teams or whatever.

Each one also included FSH files for PMSK and TMSK so that the default team equipment was the goalie's stuff. Every NV2 file had carefully selected faces that belong to other players in the game who somewhat resemble the goalie and then the PMSK file for them was numbered accordingly.

So, give me a shout and I'll send it to ya. I don't wanna upload it because along with this pack, I wanna do a revamp of the old one and clean the stuff up a bit, then I'll upload it.

Okay, one more to add to the collection.

Now, I know they're not perfect, but I'm quite proud of these pads. the reason being that after all the ones I've done, I've managed to make a few templates so that every goalie afterward becomes just that little bit easier. However, this time I had nothing to start with. I had never done a Heaton goalie before, so I did a bunch of research and managed to cobble these together out of two bad pictures of Hasek and a picture of a set of different coloured Helite III's I found on Ebay. I even had to go and make some new logos. I was hoping I'd be done with drawing logos after that damn Koho Revolution logo.

Enjoy!

I also am including an image of the 2D PhotoShop work so you can see everything. This is a rare image, the likes of which my fans almost never see. Guess that shows how much I like these ones. The only other 2D versions I've shown people were my Potvin ones.

I'm still working on it, but it's all slow-going because I've had a lot of computer problems and limited free time. Mostly monitor problems. I should be up and running by Saturday.
