New File Added: BvH Roster for NHL09 Version 25

Downloads: A new file has been added by Deputy:

BvH Roster for NHL09 Version 25

AFAIK this is the newest BvH roster file. I noticed the newest one posted here is pretty outdated, so I took the liberty of posting the newest one. I had NOTHING to do with creating it. Just posting it as a service to members of the NHL Depot.

Too bad this site is dead and that the latest roster that was uploaded here by the rostermaker has a link to the TBN roster that is more updated.

Predictions of this site's death have been greatly exaggerated

Looking at the number of people on this forum as I post this, the count is 92. Hardly a "dead forum" by any stretch. And there are probably people on here that PREFER this forum over the other location. Me for one.
I seem to "fit in" much better with the folks here than at the other place. Why not give people the CHOICE of here or there instead of proclaiming this place "dead"?

This site is on life support and it is very rare that anyone other than me that has addon experience is here.

I don't see how posting negative criticism about this site is helping it in any way. And I see plenty of people visiting this location. More than many other forums including the EA Sports forum. If this site truly is "dead", and I don't believe it is, isn't it up to the forum owners to decide whether to keep it going or shut it down?
Can't the other forum take the competition from this allegedly "dead forum"?

There is plenty but they are usually new posters who asked questions.

The admins can take it down or keep it running. It is their money and they can do what they want.

I said it is dead because it is dead.

Other than me, there is no experience addon maker here. If someone has a problem that is beyond the basics, I can't help them and I have to direct them to TBN as that is where all the addon makers are.

Since the last time I checked the posts, there was only 2 new posts here. At TBN, there was 61.

The other forum is taking the competition from this forum. The only posters here are new posters who probably searched and NHL Depot was the first on the search list.

There are 65 users
currently browsing forums.

Those are the specs for a Sunday morning. Pretty impressive I'd say. Even if it includes the ones who jumped ship to the other forum. BTW....WHY did all those people jump ship from here? Was there some major disagreement between former members and the admin here? I see no big advantage on the other forum compared to this one, other than more files are available for download. Most of the questions being asked have been answered already either here or there or on other forums. There is more to the game than just addons, although they are important. And there is more to forums than just an information source for addons. At any rate, this site is nowhere near "dead" from what I can see. Note the stats from the other place:
Threads: 36,792, Posts: 936,143, Members: 12,176

So what you REALLY have is the SAME PEOPLE posting over and over again. And looking at the posts per forum at the other location, the biggest number of posts ISN'T the sections on hockey games, it's the general chit-chat section called "Open Forum, Discussion that doesn't belong in any of the other forums. Go ahead and get rowdy, but exercise caution." So what you have is a lot of people padding their post counts (which seems to matter a great deal over there for some strange reason) and not a lot being talked about concerning hockey games.

Don't get me wrong, I think what you are doing as far as helping people with addons and other info is a GOOD thing. But is it REALLY necessary to badmouth this forum and have that line in your signature? Can't TWO or more forums co-exist without one forum ripping into the other?

All that means is that NHL Depot was busy but now it is almost a ghost town.

TBN has 12,152 members and have 87 new posts since this morning. I am not talking about padding post counts or where the posts are located but the number of threads and the number of active users. Other than me, the only members here are new members asking questions.

Yes, those stats for NHL Depot are pretty impressive other then that fact that there is only 4 threads. TBN had 87 since this morning.

Let's look at the the Stats
Of the 4 threads since this morning. Excluding me. You and Rdneck41 have the highest post totals.

I am not bad mouthing NHL Depot. I am just saying that it is pretty much dead but I am still here. Imagine, if I wasn't here and no one would get their questions answered, either by me or telling them to go to TBN if I don't know the answers.

The reason why I have that link in my sig is that, if I can't answer the question, I tell them to go to TBN and the next question they asked, what is TBN?

Yes, 2 forums can co-exist. There was even 3 forums co-existing until that site merged with TBN.

The reason why I said it is dead is that all the addon makers have moved to TBN. Other than me, the only members that are posting are new members asking questions. If I can't answer their question, TBN is the only logical place for them to go to get their question answered as that is where the addon makers are.

Ahhh...but that would imply that addon questions and files are the only reason to have a forum. And we know that isn't true. And there IS another forum beside TBN and NHL Depot.

You didn't answer my question about why there was a need to create a new forum when NHL Depot already existed???

There are a few forums and I am even a moderator at one of them and it is not TBN. If someone asks at question there that I don't know the answer to and neither does the other members. I send them to TBN as well. Since I am the only member here with addon experience. If they asked a question that I can't answer. It only makes sense to send them to a place they can get the question answered.

That would not imply the addon question and files are the only reason to have a forum especially since TBN as you pointed out have huge amount of non addon questions threads. TBN has the addon makers so it would make sense to have the person asking a question go there if there is no one here to answer it. If you and others want to keeping posting here and turn this forum around, you can go right ahead.

TBN was created because the admins of another forum did something that was not received well by the members so the members created a new forum. I do not recall the exact details as it was so long ago.

I don't recall the history of hockey video game forums but the site that was before TBN was not the first.

I'm wondering why the former members of THIS forum abandoned THIS forum and went to TBN.
This forum seems to be able to accomplish things just as well as the TBN forum. Maybe even better.

This site was actually not as active as the old forum as well but not as dead it is now.

What do you mean accomplish things here better than at TBN?

The only thing here that gets accomplish better than at TBN is that any questions that are easy and I can answer as sometimes that gets missed at TBN due to the number of threads there.

The fact that it is less busy means there is less posts and clutter to sort through. Like this mod I posted. It IS the most up-to-date mod available. And it's easy to find. Finding it on TBN is a PITA, even using the search function.

The search engine on TBN is less than ideal. Many times it comes up with zero hits. At any rate, until I hear different, as long as the modder doesn't restrict where it gets posted at, I am going to continue placing interesting files up for download. And if the file is restricted, I will get permission before putting it up for download.

This site IS dead compared to TBN, I agree with you there DS. There has been 3 or 4 addons added since my last upload here and that was a long as time ago. There is only lurkers who don't post and that is why this site is dead.

@Deputy: Why wouldn't you just ask them to upload it instead of doing it yourself? You can't upload unless you have permission, remember this!

Well the the depot is what it is now. Its clearly not as active as it was years ago.

I still think the depot does add value to the community and there is a wealth of knowledge & addons posted here. This is why it does show up first when anyone searches for info on the net. The number of users online is current and points out the number of people that use the information here.

Synergy1415P3: You're right, I could just ask the modder to upload it here. But I get the feeling this location isn't given a lot of respect from those posting at TBN. I doubt they think it's worth the effort. But I may be wrong.

Champs: I plan on staying here as long as you guys remain open and hope to add more to what's available for download both from myself, and, with permission, from others. Unfortunately, one of the addons I tried out today screwed up my NHL 09 really bad and I had to do a complete uninstall and reinstall. I would like to see The NHL Depot return to being a major supplier of addons and information for the gaming community.
